Following Alex's appearance on Radio Norfolk we have posted some advice on internet security including the FIVE GOLDEN RULES.
1. Never answer an email from your bank Building Society, BT, Microsoft or any other organisation asking for login or personal details. This includes passwords, usernames, date or place of birth, mothers maiden name.... etc because these organizations never send emails asking for this information.
2. Always use an internet security package, such as Kaspersky Internet Security (which is recomended by Barclays Bank) or Nortons Intermet Security. An anti virus package is not sufficient and will not help prevent intruders getting into your PC.
3. Never open any email or attatchment you are unsure about, especially and exe file (an executable) this could be anything and may result in loss of data.
4. Dont store bank info on your PC.
5. Never give out your credit card details to anyone who phones you, saying they are from the Bank, Building Society, BT, Microsoft or any other organisation. HOWEVER CONVINCING THEY SOUND OR HOWEVER GOOD THE OFFER SEEMS. NO GENUINE ORGANISATION WOULD PHONE AND ASK FOR THESE DETAILS.
